The main problem of Martin Scorsese film is what is the better way: to live as a devil or die as person. The story takes place in the middle fiftieth years. America hunts for communists and spies passionately. People suspect secret plots in everything they see. Retired military man Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio), U.S. Marshal, is directed by the authorities on investigation of mysterious disappearance of one patient of the closed psychiatric clinic situated on an island surrounded with water from every quarter. A badge, a pistol, partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) and information about the severe customs reigning in clinic, which can be called “cell”, here is a “luggage” DiCaprio’s character has. A barbed wire energized on the clinic perimeter, the spoilt patients’ faces, armed security forces, weird and provocative actions of Dr.John Cawley (Ben Kingsley), the scared reserve of the personnel, mysterious case “C” with closed access – it’s hard to stay optimistic watching this movie.

Everybody there covers up something, speaks the learnt words, and advices Daniels to run away. The sky brings down destructive storm there, scary dreams visit heroes every night, shadows from the past walk around and nobody knows maybe very soon the hero will become the miserable patient without any chance to escape. Sometimes it seems to me as if surrounding characters become lifeless dolls, and DiCaprio just move nearly and try to find true answer and recover a justness. I’m impressed very much. 67-year-old talented person (Scorsese , of course), made surprisingly powerful performer, with special ability to invite talented actors and, no doubts, for DiCaprio, who become more and more gifted.

Thus, undoubtedly, «Shutter Island» is a genre movie. Scorsese’s target is not to shock critics and being enjoyed by everyone. And it is correct position, I believe. Not each of the films has to be a favorite of European movie-festivals and critics. For somebody it is essential being called just “the Great Hollywood Director”. All this movie can be called as “Leonardo DiCaprio benefit.”

The S5 is a lot quiter than many home theater projectors with only 35 db of sound with the lamp on maximum output. When the lamp is in low power mode the noise level drops to 28 db which is extremely quiet. In a small room you will definitely be able to hear some amount of noise coming from the projector, but it won’t be so bad that you’ll have to scream just to be heard. You should find the noise to be more of an observation rather than an annoyance.

Much hype and puff is created around every film before its release these days. And Kites, the latest Hrihtik Roshan starrer is no exception! The film was touted on the basis of its monumental budget and the big names associated with it. Produced by Rakesh Roshan, the film is scripted and directed by none other than Anurag Basu. The film has Barbara Mori, a Mexican actress, Kangana Ranaut, Kabir Bedi and Nicholas Brown.
The film revolves around J and Natasha. The film starts with J as a wounded man lying in the arid Mexican deserts, on a quest to look for his lost love, Natasha, while he himself is a wanted man. J and Natasha are two street smart fraudsters, all set to marry into a rich and powerful family of Las Vegas just for money. All is fine till J and Natasha meet each other and fall in love. Their gold digging schemes go for a toss as they escape only to invite the wrath and enmity of the family they were going to con! J and Natasha do not understand each other’s languages as J speaks Hindi and English while Natasha speaks only Spanish!! But as they say love knows no languages and no boundaries. J and Natasha embark on an escape trail with adventures galore!
The film has received a luke warm response so far. The film is Hrithik’s baby all the way! With his stunning looks and spectacular performance, Kites is certainly soaring high because of Hrithik, who spells magic in his role as J. Hrithik alone makes the film worth a watch. The look and feel of the film is certainly like a Hollywood film, but the film follows the beaten track and has nothing much to offer in terms of content. Anurag Basu has done a fair job, but this is not one his best. The only different aspect of the story is the ending, which is truly emotional. Most of the dialogues in the film are either in English or Spanish with Hindi sub titles. This may not work well with the traditional audiences.
There are few more loose ends in the film. A talent like Kangana has been wasted with a half-baked track. Kabir Bedi disappears after a while. Nicholas Brown as Kabir bedi’s son and Barbara’s fiance’ does complete justice to his role as the villain. Hrithik and Barbara’s on-screen chemistry is crackling and fresh.
Rajesh Roshan’s music is plain and staid. Salim-Suleman have done a good job with the background score which adds to the effect of the action packed sequences. Ayananka Bose’s cinematography is top notch and simply brilliant! All said and done, Kites is an out and out Hrithik movie. He is the lifeline of the movie and rises much above the script as an actor.

The new Bollywood film, Love , sex Aur Dhokha (LSD) is director Dibakar Banerjee’s third provocative film. It is the first ever Bollywood film to have the word SEX in its title, which makes the title very explosive. The film is a take on changing times in urban India! LSD tries to make a statement about the open-ness in today’s urban society and the lack of privacy in today’s age, due to cell phones, spy cams, sting operations and MMS. This is Ekta Kapoor’s first foray into experimental cinema. It’s courageous, bold, disturbing, realistic and yet entertaining – either you will love it or hate it: you just cannot have a neutral take on this movie!

Love Sex Aur Dhokha consists of three love stories. The first story is about a film school student Rahul (Anshuman Jha) who shoots a movie and falls in love with the heroine Shruti (Shruti) and they get married, with dreams of a happy future. This track is a satire on Bollywood relationships. The next story is about Adarsh (Raj Kumar Yadav) who installs secret cameras in the changing room of a mall and plans to make a porn film using the clips. Adarsh pretends to be in love with the plain Jane salesgirl in the mall Rashmi (Neha Chauhan), who he actually plans to use, courtesy MMS scandals.
The final story has a sting journalist Prabhat who attempts a series of failed suicides. He meets Naina, who is also trying to commit suicide. She had been promised a music video by Loki Local, a Hip Hop pop star, who uses her. But the video finally went to a Russian blonde. Prabhat and Naina decide to do a sting operation. The third story bears reference to the existing casting couch and how people opt for it as a shortcut to money and fame.
It takes a while for the viewer to get a grasp of this new Hindi film, considering the constantly moving cameras. It is a digital film with the hidden camera playing a character itself, another first in Bollywood! But the screenplay and story are so engrossing that it is easy to absorb this technique of story telling!
Director Dibakar Banerjee’s choice of subject, dwelling on an unbeaten path and decision to shoot the film on a digital format deserves kudos and so does the interweaving of the three stories. There’s just one song in the film – the title track – which is already rising in the charts due to its catchy tune and filming. The DoP [Nikos Andritsakis] has done a great job with a lot of innovation and creativity with the film being shot on a handycam, security cameras placed in shops, underwater cameras and spy cameras. Editing by Namrata Rao is just perfect.

The reality in the film called for new faces and the performances of each and every member of the cast are superb. Anshuman Jha [as Rahul], Shruti [as Shruti], Raj Kumar Yadav [as Adarsh], Neha Chauhan [as Rashmi], Amit Sial [as Prabhat], Arya Devdutta [as Naina] and Herry Tangri [as Loki Local] are amazing actors and have a bright future.

On the whole, LSD is original, innovative and ground-breaking cinema, which will shock and provoke you. The explosive title and content should make this low-cost film amass a decent box office collection!
