As more and more artists are using computers to create animations, 3D animations are becoming quite popular. Earlier only the artists of a few big companies had access to the software required to create a 3D animation movie. However, today more people are getting access to these software and more companies are using these for various reasons. These days even mobile phones with 3D display screens are being developed.

To understand how 3D animation is created, you will have to understand how 2D animation works. Before the age of computers, artists drew slides with the slightly altered images and then displayed the series of slides one after another. For example, if the artist wanted to show a ball falling; then they would draw the ball a little lower in the second slide, and even lower in the third slide and so one. When the slides were presented at a certain speed, the illusion of the moving ball was created.

The problem with this method was that was time consuming and tedious. Soon the time required for the creation of the frames was reduced because the computers could be programmed to create the frames between the initial and final positions of objects. The artist would have to only make correction if required or add other elements to the frames. The option of the copy paste function also ensured that much of the work could be done quickly.

However, the motion pictures created using the 2D techniques were not really up to the mark because they these did not look realistic enough. 3D animation made it possible for the movies to look more natural and thus this technology has been adopted in spite of the fact that it is more difficult to make such a movie.

The first step in 3D animation is character sketching. The artist sketches images of the characters from as many angles as possible so that the character modeler can create the 3D model. Then the character modeler chooses from a variety of methods to sculpt the model pretty much in the same way a sculptor uses clay or stone to make a real sculpture. The only difference is that this done on a virtual platform.

After this, the scene is built and the characters are set into motion by the animator who uses software to create the illusion of movement by giving the initial and final positions of the desired movements.

Since this creates a more lifelike movie, people like to watch it. Naturally, it is becoming one of the most popular modes of movie making.

Cars are an essential part of movies in Hollywood, and it is not surprising to see car-related movies coming out quite often. While the plots and action scenes have changed due to the technological advances both in cars and the movie industry, there is no denying that a car movie will be a big hit if done right. History has proven this with several blockbusters such as The Duel, Spielberg’s first hit, American Graffiti, Bullitt, or even Death Race. There are also other movies that successfully ride over the success of car movies, but without actually becoming classics. This article takes a closer look at the top 5 cars found in movies.

5) The Ford Mustang GT 390 in Bullitt
Bullitt’s Ford Mustang GT 390 may need a strong shout to be considered. It is true that it is completely lacking as far as gadgets go and cannot boast impressive abilities such as the Batmobile’s auto-destruction feature or even James Bond’s invisible car, but this GT 390 was among the best of its kind. That. And the seven-minute or so chase scene involving this Mustang and the Dodge Charger is still one of the most impressive car scenes ever filmed.

4) The Pontiac Trans Am in Smokey and the Bandit
While there is no denying that the car makes the man, there arise some cases where the man makes the car. In this case, the man and his mustache make the car. Indeed, Burt Reynold’s Pontiac Trans Am in Smokey and the Bandit is one of the most memorable cars in Hollywood history. Just like the GT 390 in Bullit, this Pontiac is as regular as it gets, but was involved in one of the most insane missions seen in a movie. And it did have a very unique feature: a runaway bride through half the movie.

3) The De Lorean from the Back to the Future trilogy
The De Lorean is every little boy’s dream come true and not simply for its time-travelling abilities. This extremely stylish car boasts an amazingly slick outline, complete with a flux capacitor and a plutonium-powered nuclear reactor (since plutonium is a readily available item at the closest Walmart), and will travel at dizzying speeds that very likely send the driver into the future. Of course, with a title as mysterious as Back to the Future, it is not surprising that the car’s been designed to be as mysterious and interesting as possible.

2) The Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinder
Bulletproof glass? Check. People are just going to be shooting at James Bond anyway. Machine guns? Check. Whoever fires at James Bond will get fired at. Radar? Check. Satellite navigations are too common for James Bond. The Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinder pretty much redefined the Bond car. It’s gorgeous and boasted the most impressive list of Bond gadgets at that time. And it’s being driven by Sean Connery, so it deserves the nod over competitors.

1) The Batmobile from The Dark Knight
It may look ugly at first, but the design of The Dark Knight’s Batmobile is one that grows onto viewers the more it is seen on-screen. Not only that, but this car just oozes style. Its plethora of incredible gadgets, which includes the whole car being even grenade-proof, is nothing less than one would expect from Batman. Did I also mention that the car can transform into a motorbike if it’s too damaged?

New York may well be the city of film, even when the film is not made in the city it seems producers go out of their way to make it look like New York. It is a city that everyone knows and understands the universal city of story-telling.

Then Paris is familiar all the world over due to the number of films providing the city as its back drop.

And then there is San Francisco shot so famously in Hitchcock’s Vertigo.

And any movie set around movie making is made in LA. The city which is all too frequently dressed up as New York, or Paris, or even Rome, in those grand studios that through the magic of set design, contain the whole world.

This is the world of main stream cinema, the big hitting pictures designed to bring in big crowds, showing them familiar setting that they know very well through the magic of cinema. Yet with a wider access to technology there has been an alternate side of America portrayed in the latter decades of the 20th century, films aiming to tell a different story from guy meets girl, and saves the world.

Something closer to a common experience that is left unportrayed in cinema. These offer a different taste of America and through it you get to see a whole different side to explore and travel through.

Here is a guide to some of the best indie picture holiday locations in the United States of America.

Portland, Oregon

Portland, Oregon is Gus Van Sant country, in these streets we see a stoned Matt Dillon walking with a sagely but degenerate old William Burroughs who is telling him Heroin is a vegetable.

The town is undeniably hip; mostly it is removed from the dirt and grime that is mostly shown throughout that particular movie. It is a town of coffee shops and book stores and cultural events happening all year over. Yet it is a town that Van Sant still likes to return to to tell his tales of Suburban isolation. We saw this recently with his skating movie Paranoid Park.

The film was also featured in last year’s acclaimed Indy picture Wendy and Lucy, which starred Michelle Williams as a rather lost young girl trying to find her way in life, with only her dog for company. As the dog gets lost it turns to a tale about the fragility of hope and transforms in to one of the saddest pictures in recent years.

Portland is a very beautiful town full of charm and character, furthermore the Oregon rentals can offer the height of urbane living

Austin, Texas

Austin cam to screen in a big small way with Richard Linklater’s slacker and he has been paying tribute to his hometown ever since.

Now Austin has the reputation as a great alternative spot, a great location for indie culture. Throughout his career the director has returned to the town, portraying days gone by in the cult classic Dazed and Confused.

More recently the film was portrayed in Andrew Bujalski’s Beeswax.

Disney to Finally Unveil Tron Legacy

There have been few more eagerly anticipated sequels, with the ever increasing developments in technology it seems there is no better time to release a follow up to the eighties classic, Tron.

The first game was a surprise hit, latching on to a prominent cultural zeitgeist, the modern phenomenon of the video game. Certainly it seemed a risky endeavour, with a seemingly specific target audience its appeal could have been limited, yet it was a tale that was received by a great many.

Perhaps it was to do with the burgeoning cultural interest that the video game was attracting. While Tron may have seemed a full on fantasy in its day, it has also served as a fine parable perceiving the bloodthirsty future of video games.

As they depict gladiatorial battles between players, could the producers of the original Tron ever conceive such games as Grand Theft Auto.? There also seems something pertinent here in regards to the increase in video game based discourse in the papers, the distance between reality and these interactive video games has become more blurred and more questioned in contemporary consciousness.

So now almost 30 years later it seems like the perfect time to reignite the story. As the technology of video games has surpassed even the expectations of the original film, it seems only right to update the franchise. As yet the sequels and editions to the Tron film legacy has only been expanded in the video game medium and this is its first cinematic update.

Of course along with the sequel there is the inevitable accompanying video game, this, after all is the age of the Game of the movie, in which stories are milked for all the franchising they are worth, and video games are very fertile form of merchandising.

But this particular Tron is primed with an unprecedented hype machine. Firstly the advents in 3d technology are already exciting fans, and this movie is primed to mark an even vaster development in the facility. But even more exciting to fans is perhaps the buzz surrounding Disneyworld attractions. With its license owned by the Buena Vista entertainment, Disney own all the franchising rights, meaning if the film is successful enough there may be some Tron attractions coming to Disneyworld.

While the film is soon to be released after a year’s worth of buzz generating, with a trailer developed and competed by the beginning of the year it seems Disney have been happy to sit on the Tron and let the anticipation build.

The world wide release is scheduled in for mid- December with the film set to hit cinemas for a Christmas time release. Yet there will be advanced screenings in Florida, which has lead many fans to book advance Disneyworld vacation homes, in order to see the movie first.

The plot follows on from the first film, with Jeff Bridges’ son coming to find him in the Tron universe, only to find the world rapidly developing as they try to escape.

Since the early 80s Jim Carrey has been the name and face of physical comedy. Although Carrey is best known for his acting in movies, he was also quite successful on television as well. Carrey certainly is at his best when he is making audiences laugh but recently he has tried his hand in drama movies like The Truman Show. Based on his recent performances I believe he can.
To discover some of Carrey’s brightest comedic performances we need to take a trip back in time. We will only be discussing the films that Carrey was a leading man.

Dumb & Dumber (1994)

This movie is by far Carreys most entertaining movie ever made if you like stupid humor. Jim Carrey is Llyod Christmas who is a down on his luck limo driver. When he realizes his limo passanger left her briefcase at the airport, he and his buddy Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) travel across the country to return it. The adventure that the two of them go on has to be seen to be believed.

Liar Liar (1997)

Fletcher Reed, a lawyer who can’t seem to tell the truth, is the character played by Carrey in this film. When his son makes a birthday wish that his dad can’t tell a lie for 24 hours, Fletcher has a hard time trying to fulfill that wish. Watching a lawyer try not to lie in a day is pretty amusing! The movie also stars Maura Tierney as Fletcher’s wife Audrey. This film was creatively directed by Tom Shadyac (Evan Almighty, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry).

The Cable Guy (1996)

The Cable Guy might be a film that Carrey fans are shocked to see on this list. Jim Carrey plays the Cable Guy who enjoys getting to know his customers on a personal level. As the film unravels we come to understand the cable guys childhood and his love of television which stems from the fact that he was raised by one. When he befriends Steven M. Kovacs (Matthew Broderick) after he hooks him up with free cable, the relationship gets interesting. Broderick and Carrey make a very entertaining comedic team in this one.

Jim Carey has been acting for over a quarter of a century and acted in over 30 films. This article is just a snapshot into that great career. Carrey is currently working on a new film to be released in 2011 called Mr. Poppers Penguins. This movie is a comedy about a business professional who inherits six penguins and converts his apartment into a winter wonderland causing his life to fall apart.

Picture your computer data stream as continuous movie frames that flow across your computer monitor. Every time one of the frames of information is lost that means part of the overall movie or information is missing. Data can be protects completely if every change in data is recorded. Your ultimate PC backup solutions should save each file change as soon as it happens.

Data protection and security are the cornerstone of IT departments. Instead of fighting fires and going from one disaster to another having a good backup system in place will mean more stability for your companies data. Separate backup systems is also in important decision to make. All it takes is one disaster to wipe out all you data and your backups. Your PC backup solution should save data somewhere else.

Being a bandwidth hog can make the business data backup system you choose not acceptable to run. Choose the right program and that same bandwidth costs less and will save you in the long run. It is a highly desired that you maintain your customer information safe. The potential for damage to your business is too great.

The workforce has gotten more mobile and take the information to job sites or remote locations. Laptop use requires a feature rich laptop backup solution. Remote laptop backup solutions perform as well as backing up while in the office. A remote laptop still can record the changes on the hard drive and then record the changes when connected to the server to backup.

The business data backup does not take over the system. System resources are used only when they are available for the PC backup software. That kind of data backup truly protects you by guaranteeing data availability at any moment For virtually any staffer. every change to every document on every computer is protected with that kind of backup system. You can know every attempt at access and its source. Protecting data continuously guarantees you have a data stream movie with a happy ending.

Avatar:

Okay, so we’re half way there already, aren’t we? Fact is a lot of folks have (incorrectly) accused director James Cameron of ripping off World of Warcraft. Yes, it raked in all the wow gold in the world (much like Blizzard does every year) but it’s hardly a ripoff, it is however, intriguing just how much the movie lends itself to being an MMO.

A movie in which the principal characters enter high tech machines with the goal of inhabiting technologically constructed “avatars”? Giant walking mechs? A vibrant alien world filled with lush, living jungles, vast, floating mountain ranges and massive trees? Tall, beautiful alien creatures with a distinct and interesting culture? How is this not an MMO already?

When you’re talking about factions, classes or races, it’s not too hard to imagine Marines being one, Nav’i friendly humans another, and the Nav’i themselves as the last. Of course, there are still vehicles like the mechs, fighters, and air craft carriers, oh, and do we have to get into the possibilities for mounts with all the wildlife running around? Of course, it might be hard to find a currency or some sort of wow gold equivalent to run the in-game economy, and ideally such a game would be free to play powered by real money trading and micro transactions.

What would it be like?:

There would have to be a social aspect to be sure, and an Avatar MMO is more likely to rely on physical combat and first person shooting and third person action adventuring and exploration than it is traditional MMO combat. No orcs, elves and dwarves to wield magic here.

Will It Happen?:

Seems like a no-brainer doesn’t it? As a matter of fact, shortly after the movie was released and met with such phenomenal success, creators involved with the project did in fact mention that they had considered making an Avatar MMO.

You have to think it’s a matter of if, not when, but it’s also important that the franchise maintains its popularity.

The Matrix:

Some of you might remember that we’ve already had a Matrix MMO, but those of you who actually played the game, or had the misfortune of laying eyes on it, will know that The Matrix Online was, to put it kindly, something of an embarrassment for all involved.

The immense popularity of the movies at the time saw Warner Bros attempt to cash in pretty much every chance it got. Comic books, merchandising, terrible single player videogames anime (which was admittedly very cool) but the worst offender was The Matrix Online.

Gamers were eager for a dark, intriguing world that reflected the Bladerunner meets kung-fu aesthetic of the films. What developers, Monolith, and publishers, Sony Online Entertainment served up instead, was a barren, empty, joyless virtual world that gamers spent five minutes in, and then decided they never wanted to return to again.

The incredibly dense narrative, rich lore, awesome action, choreography, science fiction mechs, ships and cityscapes of the movies was… gone.

It’s a testament to how quickly the industry is maturing, that you have think if The Matrix were to be adapted to the MMO format today, things would be very different. More care, time, and attention to detail would be taken to ensure that gamers played the game, and stayed with the game, rather than turning away in disgust and heading back to Azeroth, Onyxia, and wow gold.

What would it be like?:

It’s hard to say, but the full scope of what the concept behind The Matrix promises could probably be explored better in a videogame MMO than in the movies. An unlimited number of worlds and settings, each separate, distinct, and existing in the ether, controlled by The Architect, waiting to be visited by players as they explored each new realm together.

Will It Happen?:

Warner Bros, who produced last years excellent Batman: Arkham Asylum, seem to be turning their development efforts around and producing a string of quality games (the Lego Harry Potter games for instance). At some point they’ll look at their portfolio and realise, “hey, we’ve still got this license lying around, why not do something with it?” Whether that “something” manifests itself as a series of single or limited multiplayer games is anyone’s guess, but if MMO’s like World of Warcraft continue to rake in the cash, you can bet Warner Bros will want a piece of that pie.

Tron:

Once again, the heavy lifting has been done, at least on the concept side of things. It’s hard to believe that a movie first released nearly thirty years ago to limited financial and critical success has inspired so many comics and videogames. It’s perhaps a testament to how far ahead of its time, in terms of concept, the original Tron was.

The original film saw hacker Kevin Flynn, played by a young Jeff bridges, infiltrate a videogame world of his own creation. Visually spectacular, and conceptually quite brilliant, Tron sparked the imagination, and its most popular creation, the Light Cycle, became the subject of its own real world videogame.

What would it be like?:

In a word, “stylish”. But then, Tron has always been pretty to look at, the difficulty comes from making its somewhat cold, spartan electronic world, pleasant and inviting.

Will it happen?:

Despite Disney being eager to adapt the franchise to the videogame format, an MMO based on the game is unlikely at this point, even if the films’ sequel, Tron Legacy, is a massive hit, but stranger things have happened!
